The Certificate
Small papers that unlock large doors

A birth certificate proves age and supports citizenship claims. A death certificate releases accounts and insurance. Domicile proves where you belong for admissions and jobs. Income and caste certificates decide eligibility for scholarships and seats. None is hard to obtain when due. Every one is painful years later.
- Register a birth inside the free window and keep the original certificate. Late registration needs an affidavit and sometimes an order from a magistrate.
- Keep scans in DigiLocker as well as paper in a file. Documents issued there carry the same legal standing as the originals.
