GeekLibrary is a library of cards about things worth knowing. Each card covers one subject.
A card takes about thirty seconds to read and leaves you with something you can tell someone else. Some cards are useful. Some explain how something works. Some are here because the subject is worth knowing on its own.
The subject can change. The standard does not. Anything that meets it can find a place here, so the library is not built around one topic, one audience, or one edition.
The words we use
- CardOne subject, explained on one card. The unit everything else is made of.
- TopicA broad subject area. A card can sit under more than one.
- CollectionA group of cards that can be explored together, in any order.
- PathA short sequence of cards, read in order.
- EditionA published selection of cards, such as The Primer.
- VolumePrint packaging. It exists on the shelf, not in the library.
The Eight Laws
Eight tests decide what belongs in GeekLibrary. A card passes all eight or it does not get made. They are printed on the first card of the set, shown below.
