The Voter Roll
The vote is not automatic at eighteen
The list you have to be on before anyone will let you vote.
Back
Turning eighteen makes you eligible. It does not put you on the electoral roll, and the roll is what the polling officer actually checks. Registration is free, can be done online through the Election Commission, and has to be done again whenever you move to a new constituency. Nobody does it for you.
- You may apply from the age of seventeen so enrolment is ready when you turn eighteen. Applications are processed against four qualifying dates each year.
- The EPIC card is proof of enrolment, not the enrolment itself. The roll is the record that matters, and it can be checked online at any time.
