The certification marks on Indian products, and what each one covers.

ISI means the product meets a Bureau of Indian Standards specification, and for helmets, gas cylinders, and electrical goods it is compulsory. FSSAI covers food. Hallmarking covers gold purity. AGMARK covers farm produce. Each mark is a different promise, checked by a different body, and each is worth learning to recognise.
- A mark is only as good as the licence number printed beside it. Both BIS and FSSAI let anyone verify a number online in under a minute.
- Counterfeit marks are common on helmets and cheap electrical goods. A helmet without a genuine ISI mark is decoration, not protection.
