Public Transport — Moving a million people at once

The Mumbai suburban railway carries about 75 lakh passengers every day. That is more than the population of many countries. One train replaces about 1,700 cars. The value of public transport is not speed. It is space. Roads have a fixed width. The question is how many people you can move through it.
