You cannot manage what you do not notice. Self-awareness is the ability to observe your own thoughts, feelings, and actions as they happen. Without it, practice is repetition without correction. With it, every other skill becomes improvable because you can see what needs to change.

  • One method: at the end of each day, write one sentence about what went well and one about what did not.
  • Self-awareness is not about judging yourself. It is about observing yourself.
